Bravo Company - Business Cards

''For a design agency, namecard is a tool to “pick-up” new clients. We incorporate cheesy pick-up lines and played with the theme of “fate”. To cut cost, we have a blank space to write our names, so we don’t have to print new cards for new staff.''

The business cards are great and really effective, they are humorous and original and I image would be memorable to whoever receives one:

Portfolio Surgery

I received some feedback from Andy lodge, regarding my portfolio which I am going to take on board when I make changes. I have divided these into the separate projects:

Fedrigoni
- photograph the magazines promotional ads in context
- photograph the laser cut stencils of the mail shot - to show the detail of the designs
- a possible extra deliverable could be a set of postcard - if I choose to revisit the project

LCA
- re-photograph deliverables
- use across a double page spread as the singe page isn't enough to show the work produced

Plan A
- logo concept is good - could revisit the information leaflet designs and use the logo concept across the pages, to create a consistency - as it seems separate. e.g. using an image within the heading initials like I have down with the 'A' logo.
- Use across a double page spread, and show more of the deliverables and that it is for M&S.

Ice-Cream
- broaden deliverables - could include spoons and cups - try to push this brief further
- rephotograph the designs in context

Top 10
- Use across a double page spread, include some illustrations and some character development.

D&AD Poster
- make changes
-photograph in context

Portfolio Surgery Week

Here are the portfolio pages I have prepared for the portfolio surgery week to get some feedback and advice form the visiting professionals.

The projects I have included are:
- Fedrigoni
- M&S Plan A
- LCA Graduation
- D&AD GBH poster
- Ice Cream Parlour
- Top 10 - Moving Image

I feel that my response to this selection of briefs, shows who I am and my interests as a designer - as I am mainly interested in branding, identity and promotion.

There are a few things I need to re-print and re-photograph, but I am hoping to get some advice on the layout, hierarchy, and what photographic shots would be best suited to represent the strongest parts of each briefs. I am also wary of the amount of information I have included, as I have tried to focus it down, however I think there still may be too much...

Self Branding - Stationary

Mocking up what the business cards could be like using the logo. The card could be duplexed with purple and white card. With the logo laser cut out of the white to real the purple colour. The back of the card could be screen printed with metallic ink over purple card, leaving the contact details visible on the purple.

Using this same colour and business card style I applied it to a letterhead:

And also to compliments slip, I rearranged the colour:

Getting the cards ready for lazer-cutting:

It could be nice to have the text on the back screen pretend on metallic ink. Here is who they are set up for a screen:

The result of the lazer-cut cards. I used a thick white matt stock to keep the cards simple and elegant, with the main emphasis on the logo and print process of laser cutting. The subtle colour of the details are in a silver metallic.

The logo didn't run out as planned as the counter of the a fell out even tho I disjointed it front he stem, it was too delicate. But as this was a trial I will change it for the next batch. I will also reconsider the colour of the detail as I received feedback form a few people that it could cause legibility problems. Maybe a stamp would be appropriate. Overall the cards have been low cost but effective, and a lot of people have gave positive feedback from them. They have also been easy to make with low turnaround time, which has been useful in making them before portfolio surgery week.
