Evaluation of Feedback:
I have chosen to submit the middle, subtle coloured image, for the competition as it was the one my group thought was the best. However I need to tweek it a little bit and maybe add some type to it as well.

OUGD102 - End of Module Self Evaluation

1. What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?

Throughout this module I think I have found a deeper understanding for the need to research, and how it's importance contributes to the development of the design process. Researching helps you to understand what is needed to communicate with the public, and I think I have done thisquite effectively to produce work that is visually engaging to its specific audience.
I have also become more aware of how I am spending my time, through the time management workshop and it has helped me to create schedules to work by, in order to make the most of the time I have.

2. What approaches to/methods of research have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?

Learning and understanding different types of researching including primary, secondary, quantitive and qualitative have been usful to gain different elements of research for your subect matter. I particularly liked using results from questionnaire's as they consisted of different people's opinions, so I could develop my design work according to the results.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?

I like using photography from first hand observations, to work with as starting points for design development. In some briefs I have created and used stencils from these that have proved to be visually interesting. I like coming up with clever designs, and concepts with alterier meanings.

4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these more fully?

I used to tend to come up with a particular idea and work towards creating that. In a way I do still prioritise and choose ideas that I like more than others, and spend most of my time developing them instead of giving the other ideas a chance. I will need to broaden my ideas and devlopment work in future design to gain different outcomes.

5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?

1. I will develop my skills in Adobe illustrator, as I tend to use photoshop mostly. As it offers you different ways of devloping ideas.
2. I need to be more organised when it comes to mhy design sheets and sketchbooks, so I can see what is missing and what I need to find out more of.
3. I will use the studio in the evenings as it offers a better working environment, and I can produce more work.
4. I will try to be more assertive in crits, and learn from other people's work styles, to help me understand my own style more.
5. I will use reasearch as a way of directing my design process.

6.How would you grade yourself on the following areas:

Attendance - 4

Punctuality - 3

Motivation - 4

Commitment - 4

Quantity of work produced - 4

Quality of work produced - 4

Contribution to the group - 5

OUGD102 - Collection 100. Problem Analysis - rational

Brief:
Create a travel pack to be used as a source of entertainment for travelling children.

Who needs to know?
Both, parents and children need to know as the parents will consider the product for their children, and the children will see it and want it. However it will the parent who is buying it.

What do they need to know?
That there is a package that they can get to entertain their children whilst travelling.

Why do they need to know?
To make their travel experience more entertaining

What will they respond to?
The children wil be able to use the contents of the package to entertain themselves

What research is required?
Primary: Questionnaire, asking people what they used as entertainment on different forms of transport, when they were younger. And, observing travellers and what they do for entertainment when travelling (buses, trains, car)
Secondary: Packaging/existing products/entertainment packages in different company's. Artist Research

OUGD102 - Collection 100. Rational

I have chosen to do Product & Packaging, as it is something that the audience will be able to use and interact with.
My target audience for the product will be for children who need a source of entertainment whilst on long journeys. However I need to take into consideration that the product will be most likely bought by the childs parent.
The function of this product will be to entertain.
The audience will interact with the product as the open, and use it.

OUGD102 - Collection 100. Presentation

Subject Matter:
Travel

Themes of research within subject matter:
Souvenirs, phots, most used transport, co2 emmisions, dangers of transport, drink driving/limits, big freeze effects on travel, driving entertainment.

4. Type of transport, speed, amount of co2 emission
5. Distances/ Cost
6. Age groups

Additional Research required:
Primary - Observation, recording numbers of people using transport, time

OUGD102 - What If...Self Evaluation

What problem did you identify?
The streets of Leeds City Centre are being littered because people are too lazy to find the nearest bin.

What evidence did you find to support your decisions?
Through observation, I noticed that people had been littering within 16metre of the nearest bin, even when they are not full. I found that bins are emptied in accordance to how busy that particular area is, either with bins being emptied daily or 2-3 times a week. I saw how pedestrians mindlessy threw their rubbish on the floor as they walk (intentional/habitual). Also as a group we constructed a questionnaire to find out people opinions on the litter problem in Leeds.

What methods of research did you find usefull and why?
I found that going out to find primary research was very useful as you were able to observe the problem and document what was happening. The questionnaire was quite useful.

How did these inform your response to your problem?
The questionnaire helped us to pinpoint that the bisn had to be more interative, interesting, visually appealing and convenient in order for them to use them more. We also asked what they thought the main reason behind littering was and they said laziness, which then became our problem.
What methods did you encounter as a problematic?
before the first presentatrion we hadn't constructed a questionnaire so it was as though we had made up a porblem in Leeds and not asked anybodys opinion on it.

How did you overcome this?
We constructed a questionnaire to ask people's opions and it turned out very useful within our researching.

What research could you have carried out, that would have proved more useful?
We could have asked more peopel to fill out the questionnaire to get more reliable statistics.

List 5 things that you have learnt about the design process over the last two weeks:
1. Posters don't always solve problems
2. The design process is vital, as the research and development helps you to come up with the context for the design.
3. Time needs to be taken to get reliable sources of information.
4. Asking peoples opions on subjects can give a different outlook on something.
5. Looking into different aspects of a certain subject is usefull in giving you broader information.

List 5 things you would do differently next time:
1. More time working together as a group.
2. Thinking of a broader range of different ideas.
3. Ask more people on the questionnaire so it is more reliable.
4. Do even more research.
5. Investigate problems that could be an issue once the products are int he public domain.

OUGD102 What If...Rational

Group Members:
Kirsty, Ellis, Charlotte, Emma, Paul

The Problem:
The streets of Leeds City Centre are being littered, because people are too lazy to find the nearest bin.

The Evidence:
Through observation we noticed that litter was being dropped within 16m of the nearest bin. People cannot use the excuse that the bins are too full, or that there isn't enough bins, as they are emptied in accordance to how busy that particular area is. Either being emptied daily or 2-3 times a week. We also counted the number of bins on a route within the centre and accumulated 97. 24 of which are on Briggate (the main shopping street).

We Intend to...
...Decrease the amount of litter in the streets by persuading people to use the bins provided. From our research we understood that the main reason behind littering was that people are too lazy to find a bin. We wanted to persuade people to use the bins by making them more convenient for them. We will achieve this by directing people to the nearest bin, and also by making posters to make the bins more visually appealing.
